about everyone else, but unless or until you own that story for yourself, it doesn’t have to be about you. Although I remain quite proud of my (black) identity and wouldn’t change it for the world, I won’t take ownership of most of the negative baggage assigned to it, and I’m glad that I have the option to step outside of the pigeonhole if I wish.
