Commentary: ‘A Very Old Man’ is ‘Facing a Vast Dark Space to the
Northeast’. He may be feeling old, lost and in need of guidance.

country is in the ‘Northeast’. This is the Symbol of America’s

looked to for spiritual direction. The ‘Vast Dark Space’ may feel
