Firmicus Maternus on the 2nd house:
"This house shows increase in personal hopes." (trans. Bram)
Paulus Alexandrinus on the 2nd house:
"This place is the giver of good expectations." (trans. Schmidt)
Personal hopes and good expectations are things beyond mere physical possessions and relate to internal states that qualify materiality, that is, something like "values."
the H2 receives a trine from H10 which may help and link with values imo!

Oh yeah, what we are known for, our reputations, aka 10th house, certainly reflect values. For me, too, it seems obvious what we choose to carry with us and place around us would be an expression of what we value, like in the most literal sense.

Makes me think of how our possessions/wealth is more visible to the public than our character (Sometimes). It can affect how we see ourselves for better or worse. (Thinking of H10 in the superior position from H1). Like why "dressing for the position one wants" is a thing.
