In mythology, Pholus was a centaur who had to surgically remove an arrow from Nessus after being shot by Heracles. Unfortunately to his dismay - that arrow was poisoned, and he died from the surgical procedure.

Pholus in asteroid astrology reveals themes of tower moments, things falling apart so we can piece them back together, critical turning points and interpersonal crisis.

Surgical skill is prominent with Pholus since he attempted to save Nessus. Surgical skill isn’t only medical. Generally speaking surgery is the process of removal, dissecting, repairing. But how does this show up in mundane interpretation?

Those with Pholus strong in their chart can show up in careers that utilize this. From culinary where one dices food, being a literal surgeon, someone who works with tattoos or hair styling (since both use surgical grade equipment). Pholus also shows up in the charts of those who dabble in embroidery, stained glass and mosaic art since the processes approaching these art styles is directly surgical (cutting glass, piercing it together to fit perfectly like a game of operation). I’ve seen Pholus in Cancer in the 6th house show up as a water electrician for example!

Pholus is an incredible asteroid when it comes to understanding our healing with transforming from the ripples we experience in life. We learn that things do fall apart - but this allows us an ability to piece things back together in better ways.

In the spiritual department Pholus is huge as well. Have you ever met a cord cutter or someone who works with removing, repairing energy? This is also Pholus. Energy work is very surgical.

The asteroid Pholus deeply reminds me of Kintsugi that originates from Japan. When a base breaks, they piece it back together with gold.

We inherently have skills as surgeons but this mindset shows up in how we process and piece together ourselves too. In areas of academics this comes up in those work in fields of science, research and more.

B. Pholus: The Catalyst for Change
Pholus is another significant Centaur in astrology, representing the transformative power of SUDDEN change. His story is one of awakening and realization, often linked to the theme of consequences following indulgence.

Astrologically, Pholus is associated with:

Moments of insight and clarity
The need to embrace change
Shifts in personal perspective

Vertex/Pholus Midpoint at 0 Aries Point

<
The Vertex/Pholus midpoint exactly conjunct the Aries Point (0° Aries) is a powerful astrological configuration, blending the Vertex’s fated encounters with Pholus’s catalytic, ripple-effect energy in a highly visible, initiatory context. It suggests moments where destined meetings or events trigger unexpected, far-reaching changes, often with a public or societal impact. The connection to Pisces 30’s symbolism underscores the transition from spiritual culmination to bold new beginnings, with the challenge of navigating unpredictable outcomes with intention and courage. This configuration calls for embracing fated turning points as opportunities to initiate transformative change.

L.Carroll tells story of Alice on a rowing boat in Oxford - on Aries Pt.

Challenges: Pholus’s unpredictable nature could lead to unintended consequences from fated events, requiring the individual to stay grounded and intentional. The Vertex’s karmic quality may make these events feel overwhelming or out of control.
