The chart does not look favorable for recovery.
The hour lord is Saturn, which rules the Ascendant and conjoins the 8th cusp from within the 8th house. Morinus says that Saturn in Leo is especially malevolent.
The 12th part of the Asc is probably in Leo, since the question is about death and Leo is on the 8th cusp. The ruler of Leo (8th cusp) is the Sun which also occupies the 8th. The intention of the querent is to learn about mortal danger.
Mars is the notcturnal malefic in a diurnal chart, so he is especially dangerous. Mars so closely conjunct the Asc and in his exalatation probably indicates risk of death from a wound or an infectious illness.
The Moon, which rules the 4th of endings by exaltation, closely applies to square 8th ruler Sun, which occupies the 8th. The square of the Moon to the Sun indicates that the 1st house "querent" or sick person is at a crisis point in the illness.
Mercury, the dispositor of the Sun, being in the 8th is a co-ruler of death. Mercruy translates the light from Saturn (the sick person) to the Sun (the death of the sick person) and all this occurs in the 8th house. Mercury also rules the 6th of illness and is the final dispositor of the chart.
Emerson's Point of Death (a Uranian point used by Barbara Watters) lies at 27 Scorpio in the 10th, is disposited by Mars at the Asc, and is squared by Saturn, ruler of the Asc.
All these testimonies suggest that this bout of the plague (Mars on Asc) is likely to be fatal (strong 8th house emphasis).
Although Jupiter casts a trine to the 8th house, Jupiter is weak in a cadent house at the bottom of the chart and moving Rx, so its trine doesn't do much to protect the querent.

I posted my comment on IG. I also think the patient dies. In addition to what Jenni mentioned, Mars is dispositor of PD and Dispositor of Fortuna is also in the 8h. Jupiter which could have helped by trining the asc is L12. Only positives: the Sun, L8 already moves away from Saturn, and the Moon is in the fortunate 5h. But that doesn't seem enough.the Sun will trine the asc, and the moon will square the sun, L8..

While I agree with the reasoning behind the dire assumptions - it seems obvious on what seems to be at least 20 counts! - I wouldn't assume it'd be posted if it were so obvious. If he lived, the astrologer might *synchronistically* tend to put Particular weight on L1/6/8 interaction in his own readings on death. the combust L6 is moving away from the intercepted L8 and the intercepted L8 is moving away from the tentacles of L1 aka the shadow of death is receding. mars in exaltation on the asc is fighting hard. Of course, if he died, it wouldn't be a surprise: it's just that each astrologer has his own translation, and that's the translation that matters most.

He would have died: ruler of the 1st in the 8th.

I’m not a traditional astrologer but here’s my take. Saturn in detriment in Leo rules the AC in 8th House of death along with Sun Mercury strong in domicile and Venus in Virgo, sign of health, anxiety, poverty. Mercury rules 6H of health daytime ruler of Gemini and the Moon in the 5H of vitality. Gemini rules the lungs, making them weak. I only use placidus because those exact cusps count. The sign of Libra is intercepted! the Sun, Mercury and Venus can’t express this Virgo nature except through the 6H. Mars in 12H in Capricorn is exalted, and rules the Scorpio MC the sign of death. Jupiter in Taurus gives this man strength. The message is lung failure, heart attack Saturn in Leo in 8H. My answer he will die. How old was this person?

Bubonic plague was no joke. London was beset with another round of the plague in 1665-66, so I assume that chart is from one of those years.
Mars is one degree from the ASC, and the Moon is one degree away from perfecting its square to the 8th H ruler Sun.
Dead in a day or two, would be my guess.
