A SQUIRREL HIDING FROM HUNTERS
SELF-PRESERVATION
GENERAL INTERPRETATION
In order to protect oneself or preserve a way of life, especially a
delicate one, it is utterly necessary to find the line of least resistance -
at least until the danger has passed. This Symbol may also be telling
you that you are pursuing an answer from the Oracle in a fashion that
is too intent upon getting the answer you want – and so the true
answer retreats out of sight until you are in a more sensitive and
receptive frame of mind.
KEEP FOCUSED ON …or develop an animal cunning that
perfectly protects and augments your sensitive or creative interior.
WATCH OUT FOR …a reluctance to face one's inner demons.
…hounding anything or anyone in a bid to get what you think you
want. …the possibility that you do not want to know the true answer
to your question. …feeling persecuted – if so, ask why that is.
LOVE/RELATING/SOCIAL
The more sensitive, delicate or vulnerable parts of oneself (must)

In all life situations this degrees senses a greater reality and hidden energies that are influencing the here and now. It has a strong and persistent knowing that what we are all doing here in the realm of physicality is of extreme importance, and is a key to spiritual fulfillment. Its highest calling is its role as a patient learner who listens to the world around it and hears the voices of spirit calling.
The Chandra Symbol for this degree is “A man turning into a werewolf.” Through giving in to one's animal instincts one can most easily come to understand and guide them. Here is a need to take an often extreme and periodic break from the rigors of being encased in a social framework, a need to throw off all repression and dive into one's deepest desires. This, in and of it self is healthy, as long as the person doesn't fall prey to thinking that these primal energies are victimizers dominating the self and which cannot be resisted, or chanelled into life giving and spiritual actions. At worst there may be a secret love, here, of being out of control, but when this is admitted, the inner wolf may be befriended and trained without breaking its spirit.
