The Sabian Symbol for the Sun is Gemini 10: AN AIRPLANE DIVES TOWARD THE EARTH AS THOUGH FALLING – or, A PLANE PERFORMING A NOSE DIVE

An Airplane Performing A Nose Dive An Aviator In The CloudsIf you feel you’ve lived this a lot lately (or seen me posting about it a lot) – it’s because Mercury passed direct over it several days ago and then sat on it these last few days. Further, Mars passed over it and now the Sun… we have seen a lot of ‘nosediving’ lately – whether it’s emotionally, physically or mentally… (not sure what the mentally component of it is unless it’s just somehow taking big risks OR losing control OR both).

This situation implies an ability to be able to play with and defy gravity while maintaining a sense of being in control and able to pull out of difficult situations. Your situation may seem to be heading for disaster, but perhaps you can still be in control, and, at the right moment, you’ll be able to pull out of the nosedive and save the day. The question is: do you really always have an adequate grip on the controls? Are you, or is someone else, actively working against people’s best interests? Imagine yourself regaining control, physical, mentally, emotional or spiritually and pull yourself out of the nose dive and you’ll become stronger and will enjoy the experience at the same time.

Plunging into experiences without thought of ramifications. If you become conscious you may be protected (and saved) at the last moment. Daredevil stunts. Depression.

The Caution: Refusing help even though disaster is imminent. Free falls, defying gravity and the consequences. Shakeups. Neglect of physical realities. Crashing and burning.

The thing with this is the seemingly ever-present Neptune on Pisces 10: AN AVIATOR IN THE CLOUDS – as I’ve mentioned quite a few times lately, this is a killer combination (for good or not so good)… Gemini 10 – the Nosedive degree and Pisces 10 – The Aviator In The Clouds degree – is quite the square – and extraordinary, given that Elsie Wheeler did not know what degrees she was giving the individual Symbols to – it was done in a ‘double-blind experiment’. Amazing!!

We know how Neptune can cloud visibility – it can have us wondering around in a maze, in a fog… it can also have us coming up with creative, clever and innovative ideas… the trick is to navigate it all and it can feel like swimming in pea soup.

This Symbol shows the ability, or the need, to be able to stay on one’s course while not allowing distractions or difficult or confusing issues to deter you from getting to your destination. There will be times in your life that you need to rise above and transcend the more nitty-gritty realities of earthly existence and its difficulties, just be aware that you may not be seeing the complete picture very clearly sometimes. If you take special notice, you may be able to see through illusions, seeing past the surface appearances to things that others miss. You may be able to rely on your creative or intellectual skills to take you above and beyond those things that others have to deal with. You may just be evading the real truth.

Sailing through difficulties. The need for accurate navigation. Being in charge of the controls. Seeking higher truths. Mastery. Flight. Navigation. Maps. Compasses. Pilots.

The Caution: Escaping responsibilities. Isolating oneself. Drugs and alcohol abuse. Avoiding reality. Unearthed. Unrealistic expectations. Missing the point. Evasive.KATE - DISAPPEARS FOR MONTHS/ILL +then her Announcement of Cancer- POWERFUL MOON in 9th opp PLUTO (DEEP EMOTIONS!!!).

April 2024: Trends and Key Dates

Astrologer Maureen Richmond, Ph.D.

April 2024 promises a month of dramatic happenings, potent insights, and significant personal and cultural transformations. Retrograde Mercury, a total solar eclipse, a Mars-Saturn conjunction, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction, and a Mars-Neptune conjunction in late Pisces all combine to pinpoint this month as a journey into deep thought, psychic power, potent telepathic and psychic impressions, primal urges, strong motivations, and creative intensity. That so many potent astrological influences would occur in such a short period of time is unusual. The effects in the human world are certain to be accordingly out of the ordinary.

The month begins with the alterations of perspective and changes of plan which always come when Mercury turns retrograde. The communications planet turns retrograde on April 1 at 27 degrees Aries. Thus, on April 1, the changes of plan and circumstance developing since March 18 (when Mercury entered the retrograde shadow period) will begin to manifest in earnest. Action on changes of circumstance will go into gear on April 1.

[A diagram showing how retrogradation arises.]

Persons with planetary and other placements in their charts located at 16 – 27 degrees of cardinal signs will be most directly impacted by the April 2024 retrograde Mercury period. The cardinal signs are naturally inclined to bold, forceful action which serves to initiate trends and lead the way. This current retrograde Mercury period will emphasize and activate that very tendency, doing so in a way different than the ordinary, however, as a departure from the norm is the nature of the retrograde Mercury influence. As a result, all persons with prominent cardinality in their charts are prone to see interesting developments, as their talents for pioneering leadership are stimulated in a perhaps unexpected manner.

Then, the extraordinarily powerful New Moon of April 8, also a total solar eclipse, takes over. The days immediately preceding the eclipse are likely to be points of deep disconnection, detachment, fatigue, and uncertainty, as is always the case with the closing of the lunar cycle. This time, the effects of the lunar cycle are apt to be greater than ever as the alignment between Earth, Moon, and Sun begins to fall into place for the terrific impact of a New Moon which is also a total solar eclipse.

No sooner does the New Moon take place on April 8 than yet another powerful influence shapes up. Mars arrives at 15 degrees Pisces, to conjunct Saturn on April 10, blending the drive of Mars with the serious pursuits of Saturn, and thus focusing mind and will in the spiritual and psychic field of Pisces.

More is to come. In the human realm, communications get interesting on April 11 with the conjunction between the Sun and retrograde Mercury, always a point of intensity during any period of retrograde Mercury.

[Diagram showing the Sun-Mercury conjunction, as seen from Earth. In this case, Mercury is the “inferior planet,” meaning, the planet closer to the center of the solar system. In April 2024, the Sun-Mercury conjunction is like the diagram on the right in which Mercury passes in between Earth and Sun.]

Then on April 19, retrograde Mercury conjoins with Venus at 17 Aries to spice up the scene of art, human relations, and competitive aspirations.

Near the end of the month, the much awaited conjunction between expansive Jupiter and eccentric Uranus will become exact, sparking creativity, insights, and high motivation.

Moreover, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is so strong that it is sure to affect the several weeks both before and after exactitude, which takes place on April 20. Occurring only once every 14 years, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is a potent rhythmic impulse governing creativity, entrepreneurial drive, inventions, transcendence, and technological innovation. In the individual person, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction evokes courage, the willingness to take risks, an overpowering curiosity about the higher levels of existence, and an eagerness to take on new challenges. As a result, many will experience a jolt of new life energies with the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction of late April 2024. Taking place in the money, asset, and resource oriented sign of Taurus, this Jupiter-Uranus conjunction contains plenty of power for the creation of new methods for the creation of income, financial gain, and material increase.

But that’s not all. On April 28, Mars conjoins Neptune at 29 degrees Pisces, bringing immediacy to the Pisces themes strong throughout March and April of this year. Pisces attunes consciousness to the vast, to the cosmic, to unlimited and unbounded space, even to infinity. It erases the arbitrary boundaries erected by the limited human mind and reveals the astounding world of quantum functioning, synchronicity, and the ocean of existence. This impact from Pisces is sure to dissolve many rigid structures of thought and practice which have held humanity back, setting the stage for the new inspirations of the innovative Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and allowing them to work with far less impediment.

Given that Mercury remains retrograde, however, the full details on the new programs of commerce, investment, and creativity may not be known until Mercury turns direct on April 25. Thereafter, a distinctly helpful Mars-Pluto sextile on May 3 will likely bring the emerging path into focus and operation.

Finally, Jupiter enters Gemini in late May and the game is on, as the field of gain moves from tangible and solid, fixed earth-sign Taurus to social networking and intellectual ferment under airy and mutable Gemini.

April 29……………Venus enters Taurus, 6:31 am CDT. Another calming influence enters the picture, soothing emotions and bringing greater comfort after a few weeks of competitive striving on the relationship front.

April 30……………Mars enters Aries, 10:33 am CDT. Competition now serves as a drive in the area of personal advancement, sports, physical conditioning, outdoor activities, and entrepreneurial projects. Bravery increases exponentially. Risk-taking looks infinitely less threatening than usual. Impulsive action beckons but should not be allowed to rule.

April 30…………….Venus 2 Taurus square Pluto 2 Aquarius. Comfort levels take a bit of a hit as group and organizational matters put a demand on time and attention. Disagreements over what constitutes beauty, grace, and manners may arise. Offensive language or conditions may appear. Taking it one step at a time will help. Patience wins. Hurt feelings get in the way. We should take it easy.

Looking Ahead to the Highlights of May 2024

May 2………………Pluto stationary retrograde, 12:46 pm CDT, 2 Aquarius. Pluto retrograde in Aquarius draws attention to membership groups, collaborations, teamworking, and synergistic interactions. We feel the power of elected bodies as they rise up against the executive or elite. Power sharing comes to the foreground as an ideal for cultural functioning.

May 3………………Mars 2 Aries sextile Pluto 2 Aquarius. Cooperative endeavors move ahead easily. Constructive effort unfolds. Agreements fall into place. The seeming blockages of April 21 begin to melt.

May 13……………..Clear Mercury, 27 Aries. The uncertainties in the picture since March 18 now fade out. The way ahead appears clearly outlined and evident.

May 25……………..Jupiter enters Gemini. After a year of Jupiter in Taurus with its entirely legitimate concerns about financial security, the focus shifts to the cultivation of knowledge resources and the sharing of information as a primary method of personal and cultural advancement.

March 25 Lunar eclipse 10 degrees 55 minutes Virgo, Hasta
This lunar eclipse is in Virgo conjunct Ketu empowered by the nakshatra Hasta. There is a certain degree of fear in the air as Ketu aligns with the Moon. The Moon can indicate the public and this Moon represents health and healing and a possible health scare.

During this lunar eclipse Mercury is debilitated at 29° of Pisces meaning it is on the edge and gandanta. It is the last degree of the Zodiac meaning things are about to change but currently are completely out of control. Mercury in Pisces can also represent extremes with weather, storms, and floods. It is time to get healthy mentally emotionally and physically.
March 25 Mercury enters Aries
As Mercury enters Aries there is a different feel in the air where people want to move forward quickly and get as much done as they can but little do they know Mercury is about to turn retrograde and this will be a major reversal in so many areas of our lives particularly in global affairs. Don’t make major decisions because circumstances and feelings will change as Mercury changes direction.
March 31 Venus Pisces
Venus is exalted in the sign of Pisces therefore it becomes stronger and more potent. This is a time that we will feel more creative and expressive artistically as well as being able to express our love for others.

Take this time to appreciate others coming from a place of compassion, appreciation, and being able to express ourselves fully. It's also a good time to go shopping as there is of vision as to what is beautiful. Use this time to decorate and make things and places more beautiful is key right now.

uly 5, 2020 Lunar Eclipse with Sibly Chart
The eclipsed Moon falls in the 1st house that represents the populace and country's image. It's within less than a third of a degree from an exact opposition with the Sibly Sun, which represents the president. He's going to receive a lot of push back from the people. Furthermore, this implies that the nation's solar return, which will be in effect for the coming year, will have nearly identical placements. This does not bode well for the nation much less Trump.

E-Jupiter RX/2nd/Capricorn cnj Pluto RX/2nd/Capricorn opp Sibly Mercury RX/8th/Cancer
There are few things more volatile than a Jupiter - Pluto conjunction. Both are retrograde, which internalizes their energy. Pluto's retrograde behavior is reminiscent of the phoenix, that burns everything to a crisp before rising from the ashes.

Jupiter retrograde tends to focus on ethics issues, which was a target-rich environment. This easily represents what Trump was trying to drain from the swamp, especially in the house of finances, which were clearly involved.

This Jupiter-Pluto conjunction reminds me of years ago when I lived in a small rural town that was the location of seven dairy farms (until most were forced to close by policies instituted by Ronald Reagan, but that's another story.) A common sight was local farmers driving tractors pulling manure spreaders on their way out to the field, dropping cow excrement along the way.

10 Gemini

does this fit -- 9-10 deg Gemini
This degree grants a patient interest in solving complicated and difficult problems. It ties in closely
with the nervous system and is associated with pain. This degree stimulates almost weird mental
abilities. The native is very protective of his own interests and capable of contriving strange and
unusual schemes in his own behalf. There is little imagination, only strange patterns which no one
else would think of or bother with. Occasionally some strange bit of information of real value which
would never have been suspected by anyone else is brought forth. For the most part these details are
not worth the effort.

To determine if this interpretation for 9–10 degrees Gemini (Gemini 10) fits with the three previously provided interpretations, let’s compare it for congruency and differences. The new interpretation focuses on problem-solving, nervous system ties, pain, unusual mental abilities, self-interest, and producing occasionally valuable but often trivial insights. Here’s the analysis:
Congruency
Unusual Mental Abilities:
New Interpretation: Highlights “almost weird mental abilities” and the capacity to uncover “strange bits of information” that others might overlook. This aligns closely with the first interpretation’s emphasis on the “majestic power of the mind” and developing “super-normal abilities” through extraordinary effort. It also resonates with the second interpretation’s focus on unique perceptions and interpreting reality in a novel way (e.g., “magic glasses” revealing hidden meanings).

Connection: All interpretations suggest Gemini 10 grants a distinctive mental capacity, whether for transcending limits, perceiving hidden truths, or devising unusual solutions.

Focus on Perception and Insight:
The second interpretation (Magic Glasses) and the new interpretation both emphasize uncovering obscure or hidden information. The “magic glasses” allow reading a secret text, while the new interpretation notes the ability to bring forth “strange bits of information of real value” that others wouldn’t suspect. This shared theme of revealing what’s hidden ties them together.

The third interpretation (Airplane Diving) also involves a form of perception—recognizing the reality of a dangerous situation (e.g., the pilot’s awareness or the onlookers’ realization)—which parallels the new interpretation’s focus on noticing what others miss.

Potential for Struggle or Challenge:
The new interpretation’s mention of “pain” and “complicated and difficult problems” connects to the first interpretation’s “extraordinary struggle” to overcome physical and mental limits. It also aligns with the third interpretation’s high-stakes scenario, where the airplane dive represents a challenging, potentially painful situation requiring quick thinking to avoid disaster.

Individualistic Tendency:
The new interpretation’s note about being “very protective of his own interests” and contriving “strange and unusual schemes” for personal benefit echoes the first interpretation’s depiction of rare individuals who reject external constraints (e.g., death, physical limits) to prioritize their own mind’s power. It also subtly connects to the second interpretation’s warning about projecting personal fears or desires, which could stem from self-interest.

Differences
Tone and Focus:
New Interpretation: Practical and somewhat critical, focusing on problem-solving, self-interest, and often trivial outcomes (“details are not worth the effort”). It has a grounded, almost skeptical tone about the value of the native’s efforts.

First Interpretation: Aspirational and metaphysical, emphasizing transcendence of physical limits and the mind’s heroic potential. It’s more optimistic and less focused on mundane outcomes.

Second Interpretation: Mystical and symbolic, centered on perception and the risk of misinterpretation, with a neutral tone about outcomes.

Third Interpretation: Dramatic and action-oriented, focusing on a tangible crisis and the need for immediate action, contrasting with the new interpretation’s slower, patient problem-solving.

Role of Pain and Nervous System:
The new interpretation uniquely ties Gemini 10 to the nervous system and pain, which none of the other interpretations explicitly mention. This could be seen as a metaphorical link to the third interpretation’s high-stress airplane dive scenario (nervous system under pressure) or the first interpretation’s struggle against physical limits (potentially painful). However, the explicit mention of pain and physiology is distinct to the new interpretation.

Imagination vs. Practicality:
The new interpretation states there is “little imagination, only strange patterns,” which contrasts sharply with the first interpretation’s imaginative leap toward “super-normal abilities” like flying or overcoming death. It also differs from the second interpretation’s creative symbolism (e.g., “magic glasses,” “fangs”), which implies a more imaginative or intuitive approach. The third interpretation is less about imagination and more about reacting to reality, but it still doesn’t align with the new interpretation’s dismissal of imagination.

Value of Outcomes:
The new interpretation suggests that the native’s efforts often yield trivial results, with only occasional valuable insights. This contrasts with the first interpretation’s grandiose view of achieving “majestic” mental power and the second interpretation’s focus on potentially transformative (if risky) insights. The third interpretation implies a critical outcome (success or disaster), not a trivial one, making the new interpretation’s emphasis on “not worth the effort” unique.

Self-Interest vs. Broader Implications:
The new interpretation’s focus on self-interest and personal schemes diverges from the first interpretation’s universal, almost heroic transcendence and the second interpretation’s broader interpretive role for others. The third interpretation involves others (onlookers, the pilot), but its focus is on collective safety rather than personal gain, contrasting with the new interpretation’s self-centeredness.

Does It Fit?
The new interpretation fits well with the core themes of Gemini 10 as presented in the other three interpretations, particularly in its emphasis on unique mental abilities, uncovering hidden or obscure information, and facing challenges. It complements the first interpretation by grounding the “super-normal abilities” in a more practical, problem-solving context, and it aligns with the second interpretation’s focus on perceiving what others miss. It also shares the third interpretation’s sense of challenge, though it frames it as intellectual rather than physical or immediate.
However, it diverges in its skeptical tone, emphasis on pain and the nervous system, dismissal of imagination, and focus on self-interest with often trivial outcomes. These elements add a more critical and grounded perspective that contrasts with the aspirational, mystical, or urgent tones of the others. The mention of pain and the nervous system is a unique addition that could enhance the other interpretations by suggesting a physiological or emotional cost to the MENTAL EXERTION or risk-taking described.

Conclusion
The new interpretation is largely congruent with the others in its focus on distinctive mental capacities, revelation of hidden truths, and navigating challenges. It fits as a more practical, critical perspective on Gemini 10, emphasizing the native’s intellectual QUIRKS and self-interest. However, its unique elements (PAIN, nervous system, lack of imagination, trivial outcomes) set it apart, adding depth but also introducing a more skeptical lens. Together, these interpretations depict Gemini 10 as a degree of mental acuity, risk, and revelation, with varied emphases on transcendence, perception, action, and personal gain.

A woman of pleasing appearance stands offering a glass of some fluid to a child.

It indicates that the person born under this degree will have a kind, sympathetic nature, able and willing to help the sick and needy; one whose knowledge of human nature, of arts and sciences, will be thorough and well used. The nature is gentle and benevolently hopeful and inspiring, and disposed to self sacrifice. This is a degree of
HEALING.

carelli

9-10 deg Gemini
Symbol: The good Samaritan succors the Jew whom the highwaymen have beaten to within an inch
of his life (Luke 10:30-35).
A great heart fired and inspired with the wish to help mankind, to whose service a great store of energy is placed with somewhat childish enthusiasm. Sympathy for the poor and the sick is apt to take concrete shape, and there is a sincere wish to succor and heal social misery.
The reverse of the coin consists in the delusion of reaching such aims with merely material means. Should the horoscope not bear the imprint of a deeply religious spirit, the native, acting on purely human grounds, will stick to the faddish concept that vice and crime can be fought by spreading well-being and strengthening the police forces. In a word, a well-meaning, well-fed, well-bred, humdrum middle-class fellow, whose limited mental powers will not prevent delving deep into medicine and political economics, to pursue his ambitious but charitable aims.
Luck may smile on this good fellow and lavish him the means to carry out his beneficent plans.

=======================================================
The imagery of Gemini 10, featuring a young woman noticing a handsome man has fangs, is a metaphor for sudden realizations and the unveiling of truths previously hidden or ignored. It speaks to moments of clarity that can be both shocking and transformative, leading to a deeper understanding of reality.

This degree symbolizes the impact of unexpected events or revelations (“Blows of fate. Acts of God.”) that force one to confront what was overlooked or denied. It’s about the duality of life—the light and the dark—and the recognition that both exist within and around us.

The passage suggests that such realizations can lead to significant changes in perspective (“to generate a change, to draw it all out”). It warns of the potential for becoming cynical if one focuses only on the negative (“the reverse shadow image”), but also hints at the possibility of profound personal growth and transformation (“epiphanies, metanoia”) if one can integrate these insights constructively.

In essence, Gemini 10 speaks to the human experience of awakening to the full spectrum of life’s possibilities and the choices we make in response to our newfound awareness. It’s a call to embrace both the light and the dark, to learn from them, and to allow them to guide us toward greater wisdom.
